BEST 2006 News
The Techno Titans' hard work paid off. At the BEST competition (state level), the Techno Titans did very well, receiving two awards. They received first place for the robot competition, ending up with the most points in the final 3 rounds. They also received 3rd place for the BEST Award. Now, the Techno Titans are working to improve the robot, making adjustments so that they can excell in competion once again. They will travel to Auburn in December for the regional competition of BEST.

The Techno Titans have been working hard on their robot for the BEST Competition. The Georgia BEST Competition will be hosted by Southern Polytechnic University (SPSU) and held in the SPSU gymnasium on Saturday October 21, 2006. The competition is sponsored by SPSU, Siemens Energy and Automation, and Higginbotham and Associates. Admission is free. The winners of this event will go on to compete in the South's BEST Robotics Regional Finals Competition held at Auburn University in Alabama.
The mission of Georgia BEST Robotics is to inspire and interest students in engineering, science, and technology. The mission of SPSU is to teach students to apply knowledge and to use technology to solve real-world problems. The competition fosters creativity in engineering design, teamwork, and adherence to the engineering process. BEST is a non-profit, volunteer organization whose mission is to inspire students to pursue careers in engineering, science, and technology through participation in a sports-like, science- and engineering-based robotics competition. It was founded by two Texas Instruments (TI) engineers, Ted Mahler and Steve Marum, with the support of Texas Instruments management. The first competition was held in 1993 with 14 schools and 221 students. Currently there are 31 BEST Robotics Hub competitions like Georgia Best and 3 regional finals competitions. There is not a "superbowl" in BEST.
Northview High School's Techno Titans Robotics Team is proud to be competing in the 2006 Georgia BEST Robotics Competition, "Laundry Quandary". This is a demanding challenge that requires the combination of Teamwork, Innovation, and Determination in order to successfully create a robot to complete the required tasks. The Techno Titans have met this year's challenge through adherence to the engineering design process.
