What has the team been doing in preparation for GRITS?
After a decent competition run in STING, the team is now preparing for GRITS, with each sub-team continuing to teach new members. Here is what each sub-team has been up to:
Business has been updating the Techno Titans website, planning for the future, and continuing to make and post on all social media platforms! They have also been exploring new potential sponsorships and fundraisers.
Fabrication students have been learning about safety, drilling, fasteners, rivets, Loctite, and mechanisms. The Fabrication lead, Seth, has also been testing new students by taking daily quizzes to ensure they retain and learn the information. In preparation for GRITS, Fabrication has been creating new intake standoffs, replacing bearings, replacing proper-length standoffs, and changing out old 3D-printed parts.
The Electrical members are currently revising our CAN chain and turret wiring to ensure they are more consistent than they were during the past season. Students are also learning how to work with wires and teaching the basics of other sub-teams to ensure they have a well-rounded understanding of the whole team. The Electrical lead, Saathvik, has also been giving daily pop quizzes and making them draw the circuit of a normal FRC robot to ensure that new members retain and learn the information.
Design members have been refreshing their design skills or continuing to go through their beginner design boot camps. Some of the things include sketch features, extrusions, body modifications, and mate connectors/assemblies. In preparation for GRITS, Design has been creating new spares and testing prototypes for turret containment and wiring. They plan on testing new ways and iterations to increase BPS to boost performance. To ensure members are retaining information, Design Lead Michael has been making the new members create their own parts and do homework practice CSWA problems.
Robot Code has been brushing up on Java, reading through documentation, and is about to start learning how to code subsystems on the robot. In preparation for GRITS, Robot Code is fixing bugs in the codebase and testing the newly wired robot. In regard to making sure the students retain the information, the Robot Code Lead, Kovid, has been giving daily guided projects to complete that he reviews and gives feedback on.
The new Scouting System students have been learning about Java and took a test to ensure they are prepared for the rest of the year. Some of the questions on the test included learning Android Studio and how the scouting app works.
The Strategy sub-team had a mini bootcamp, where they learned about pre-competition assignments, qualitative scouting, match strategy, DataVis, and alliance selection. Strategy also worked closely with drive team on improving our match strategy and our data visualization web app, implementing several changes.
Other Updates:
Recently, we held new Drive Team Coach applications and have selected a new Coach! Welcome Saathvik!
This week, Techno Titans had the pleasure of hosting the Johns Creek High School Gladiators robotics team at our workspace, with the visit coordinated by our mentor, Mr. Howard. Techno Titans President Rhea welcomed the Gladiators, introduced them to our team, and gave them a tour of our workspace. Later, several Gladiators members stayed behind to observe and learn how the Techno Titans team is working on our current robot improvements for GRITS.
Overall, it was a wonderful collaboration opportunity for both teams to share knowledge, learn from one another, and build connections that could lead to future alliances. We look forward to continuing to learn, collaborate, and grow together!
